He was a farmer, occupying the land given him by his father, and was also a soldier in the army of the Revolution, having enlisted as a private in the first battalion, second establishment of New Jersey militia. He was a deacon in the Presbyterian church, an exemplary Christian man.

1783, Oct. 25. Condlct, Daniel, of Newark, Essex Co., yeoman; will of. Wife, Ruth, a room in the house, a horse, 2 cows, the servant girl, Phillis, and her thirds. Son, Ira, £100, for his education; also 15 acres of land at the southeast corner which joins Amos Harrison, Mathew and James Dod's land. Daughters, Eunice and Mary, £100 each. Grandchild, Ira Harrison, the amount equal to one of my daughters, when he is 21. Sons, Joel, Amos and Samuel, the rest of my lands and salt meadow. My friend, Stephen Harrison, Jr., and my brother, Jonathan, are to dispose of the estate of my deceased brothers according to the will of my father, Amos to have the yoak of cattle he now works.
