Roy Lacy was the county attorney of Houston and was married to "the Cajun" prior to Ethel Laughton.  Her father was John Willliam Laughton and was the top Master Mariner that piloted ships through the Houston ship channel from Galveston and Houston and surrounding bays and waterways. Roy Lacy was very prominent but when he died prematurely .  He apparently did not have a formal education but apprenticed under lawyers and a judge and successfully passed the bar.  Ethel left the family for another man with whatever money they had and went to California.9608
