Notes for James Smith
He was one of the minute men and was subsequently promoted to the position of ensign during the Revolutionary war, in which he was an active participant. Although minus a limb at the time, he could not resist the temptation to offer his services in behalf of his country's freedom, and performed most ef^cient work on horseback.4078
