When 14 years old his parents removed to Crawford County, Ohio, near Bucyrus. Working on his father's farm, he became a practical and successful farmer. In 1864 they removed, with their family, to Henry County, Iowa, where they resided until 1884, and where their youngest children were born. In 1884 they removed to Linn County, Kan., leaving their oldest daughter, Sabina Osborn, in Winfield, Iowa. In 1900 they moved to Beagle, Miami County, Kan., where they resided until God called them. They were a happy and contented couple, earnest and faithful Christians. They loved their farm life, and their children bear loving witness to their faithful teaching and example.7
