Notes for William Henry Harrison (Spouse 1)
He received a public school education in his native place. He entered the service of his country Aug. 28, 1861, as sergeant in Company C, Seventh New Jersey Volunteers, and served until the close of the war, being mustered out with an honorable discharge July 28, 1865. His record as a soldier was of exceptional merit and he was promoted to second lieutenant Sept. 10, 1864; to first lieutenant Jan. 10, 1865, and was in command of the company during the latter part of his service. For many years he was engaged in the building business. From the time of the organization of the Caldwell Borough Council he served as a member until he resigned in 1914. He was an active and prominent Republican, and has occupied the position of member of the Republican County Committee. He was commander of Bartlett Post, No. 39, G. A. R., and an active member and past master of Caldwell Lodge, No. 59, F. and A. M.
