Notes for Ebenezer “Eben” (Spouse 2)
His entire life was spent on the farm on which he was born. He and his wife were most hospitable and their home was ever open to the many friends and relatives who delighted to visit them. He had a strong love for the family name and ancestry, and without his able assistance and hard, faithful work, the 1885 edition of the family record would not have been compiled and published. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church in Jersey. He loved the church, and service to humanity was the keynote to his life, which ended here Sept. 15, 1913. In the words of a lifelong friend, "We recall him without sorrow, for we hold that sorrow for one who plays his part well and leaves this stage with dignity is a shameful folly; at any rate, so long as the world retains the measure of his good work and so long as he lives enshrined in our memories, so long he lives immortal."
