Olive Hovey (Rexford) (Bender), born in the province of Quebec in 1811. She emigrated to the United States to Buffalo, New York in October of 1851 and on 4 June 1885 she Declared her Citizenship in Dakota
Territory. She filed 2 November 1863, a paper entitled War of 1861 #9169, claim for Mothers Pension Act of July 14, 1862: wherein she requested and received a pension on her son, Corydon, in the amount of $8.00 per month. At this time her address was Hatley, East Canada. Notes for David (Spouse 2)
In depositions for her pension application: On the 20th day August of 1857 David deserted his wife, leaving her without support, and disposing of his property. He did not contact her, nor contribute anything to her support and was beyond the reach of legal compulsion. It was rumored that he was in the territory of Nebraska.4449
