Notes for John Walker
The earlist known of him is St. Clair County, Board of Minutes for 1817-1821. It seems about 1831, he is in Morgan Co.,Il, Macoupin in 1832, Greene Co. about 1834. He purchased Public Domain Land Tracts, 1830,1831,1854 in Greene Co. dates here indicate he was a resident 1830. He laid out a town called Walkerville, in Township 11 ,Rance 13 abaut 1835. The town had about 100 people and flourished until the railroads bypassed it . It is now a township. In his will he left his wife their home in Walkerville with possessions. To James, $5 and Edward $5,to Emily Dowdy (dau) heirs ,James and Allanson $5. To Mahalia Hudson (dau), Elizabeth Rasterson (Kesterson) (dau), Annette (Ann M) Flowers (dau) to have all of my real estate after the decease of my wife,Elizabeth, to be divided*in equal shares.2996
