Notes for Lucille Frances Parrott
She worked on Elmendorf Air Force Base as a clerk typist for the Corps of Engineers from 1956 to 1964. She then taught third grade at Ursa Major School on Fort Richardson from 1967 to 1979. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alaska Methodist University in 1967 and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alaska in 1969.
She was a faithful member of the Community of Christ Church nearly all of her life. Lucille spent her whole life in service to her family, her church and her community. She volunteered in the Anchorage Senior Companion Program for more than 17 years and in 2002 received the First Lady's Volunteer Award from first lady Susan Knowles for her community service.
Lucille had an adventuresome spirit and had traveled to nearly 100 countries. She went skydiving, hang gliding in Brazil, snowmachining and four-wheeling in Alaska, and did 100 scuba dives in the Caymans, Mexico and the Maldives off the coast of India, all after the age of 70. Her last adventure was parasailing with a great-grandson in Mexico in this past March.
