David (3) Morrow in Worth Ray?s parlance.1963
Arrived Virginia prior to 15 Nov 1650 per certificate to Richard Whitehurst for 300 acres for transportation of: Arghill Cammeron, David Murrowes, Thomas Sanderson, William Castle, Bartholomew Ward, Mathew Mathais & Anne Lovell.1968
In documents his name is variously spelled Morrow, Murray, Murrow, Morrah, Murroes.1894
Wrote his will in 1692 in Norfolk, Virginia mentioning sons David, deceased, Alexander, John, daughter Ann, wife of Jeremiah Beck, grandsons George and John,, sons of David (dec.), and a grandson, son of John.1964
David Morrow is shown on a land patent deed with headright Richard Whitehurst on 22 Nov 1651, indicating his immigration from Norfolk, England to Lower Norfolk Co, Virginia. ("Morrow and Related Families" by Dr. J.T. Morrow pg 17) (Virginia Land Patents Book 2, 1643-1651, Reel 2, p.350) On the deed, his name was spelled "David Murrowes". On the same date, David Murray (sic) was the headright himself of 300 acres for the transportation of 6 persons. The difference in spelling was common; the wills of both David and his son David have multiple spellings within the same document.
The land he settled is located at the mouth of the James River in Chesapeake Bay on the Atlantic coast. Specifically, in the Linhaven parish on the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River at the head of Wilson's Creek. The city of Norfolk, VA now lies there.
He and Ann witnessed a will together in 1680. In Feb. 1690, Hannah Ivy, widow of George, is named in his probate as wife of David Morrow.
Daughters: Mary, Ann m. Jeremiah Beck. (Credit to Bill Morrow)1891
Notes for Ann (Spouse 1)
It appears that both David and Ann Murray (Morrow) witnessed the will of son-in-law Michael Macoy.1969
