Alexander was a Quaker Minister for twenty-two years before his death. As a minister, he twice made the long journey into North Carolina. He settled in London Grove, Chester Co. PA and was appointed an Elder 31 Nov 1736. He removed Warrington Twp in York county in 1743, where he was also the Minister of the Warrington Monthly Meeting.His will, dated 28 May 1767 names sons John, Elihu, William, Samuel, Thomas, Joseph and Benjamin; and daughters Ruth Morthland, Mary Wells, Ann Fraizor and Jane Smith,
Alexander3 Underwood (Samuel2, Thomas1)(12) (#1532) was born in Ann Arundel, MD province circa 1688. Alexanderdied 10/31/1767 in Warrington, York Co., PA, at 79 years of age. His body was interred NOV 2, 1767 in Warrington MM, Chester Co., PA, USA.(13).
He married twice. He married Jane Harry circa 1710 in New Castle Co., Delaware, USA.(14) (Jane Harry is #1535.) Jane was born ABT 1687 in Chicester, Chester Co., Pennsylvania, USA. Jane(15) was the daughter of Hugh Harry and Elizabeth Brinton. Jane died BEF 25 APR 1743 in London Grove, Chester Co., PA, USA, at approximately 55 years of age. He married Sarah Boatwater Beals 2/16/1748 in Monacy MM, Maryland, USA; widow of John Beals, after Sarah had gotten her children's permission. They married after he received a certificate from Warrington to Fairfax Meeting dated 2mo. 16, 1748. Sarah was probably in her 60's at the time. Sarah died prior to Alexander as she was not mentioned in his will. She is last recorded on Sept. 12, 1761 when she was succeeded as "overseer".
Alexander's will was probated May 28, 1767 in York Co., PA, USA.
