Sergeant John Ward

He was in Branford as early as 1644.
On October 17, 1661 he made the following affidavit: Gave his age at about 36 years stating that for six or seven years he had been aquatinted with one Henry Bacon of Clipsum in the County of Rutland in England. (NE Hist Gen. Reg. Vol 35, p 196)
Was one of the first settlers in Newark, New Jersey.
