In 1831 Joseph Mathews is shown on the Tax Lists as a single man; again in 1835 Joseph and Georg shown as single men; in 1837 Jesse Mathews as married; in 1838 Jesse and John on the married list and Joseph and Georg on the single men list; in 1840 Jesse on the married list and Joseph and Georg on the single men list; 1841 Jesse on married list and Joseph and George on single men list; 1842 Jesse on married list and Joseph and George on single men list; 1843 Jesse on married list and Joseph and George on single men list, 1844 Jesse on married list and Joseph on single men list; 1845-46 Jesse on the married Tax List. 430

John and Letitia may have met on the Mormon Pioneer Overland Trail in 1862 in the James Wareham Company. There was both a John Matthews and Letitia J. Healy on this journey. John had a Wm. and Thomas [and there was a Mary and Joseph also] with him.455
