Notes for Charles John Reece
Born on December 30, 1919, in the 2700 block of Reese Street in Philadelphia, PA. Charles John Reece is the son of Charles Reece and Annie Maylott Reece. Charles’ siblings are: Ivy Florence Reece, Annie Lauretta Reece and Mae Catherine Reece.

On April 29, 1945, Charles married Mary Ellen McKinley (also known as Nellie) at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Philadelphia, PA. Charles and Nellie’s daughter, Virginia May (also known as Ginny), was born on August 20, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA.

During their marriage, Charles and Nellie lived at 3322 Ella Street, Philadelphia, PA; Deer Park, New Hope, PA and 926 Pebble Hill Road, Doylestown, PA.

Charles grew up in Philadelphia and attended public school until completion of 10th grade. As an adult Charles attend Standard Evening High School and obtained a high school diploma. Charles went on to graduate from Penn State in a certificate program. He joined the Army Air Corp in _______ and served during World War II. Charles was a loom fixer at Artloom Corporation (carpet manufacturer) in Philadelphia, PA. In 1960 Charles went to work at Taurus Corporation in Lambertville, NJ. He later retired from Taurus Corp as an assembly supervisor. Charles also worked part time at Sears Roebuck Department Store as a sales supervisor. Charles was an active member and deacon of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located in Jenkintown, PA and later at Tarpon Springs, FL. He was also a member of the Orion Masonic Lodge 56 in Frenchtown, NJ; the Valley of Trenton AARS, Trenton, NK; the Crescent Temple AAOMS in Trenton, NJ; and the Hunterdon County Shrine Club in Frenchtown, NJ.

After Nellie died February 1, 1977, Charles married Verna Phillips Winn on December 30, 1978 in Milford, NJ. They lived in Doylestown, PA for a short time then moved to Milford, NJ to Verna’s childhood home. They moved to Hudson, Florida in 1986 and lived in Shadow Wood Village at 14620 Cortland Drive, Hudson, FL.
Charles died on July 27, 1990 at the age of 70 while at the Ritchey Manor Nursing Center.

VERNA P. REECE, 70, of Hudson died Friday at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson. A native of Riegelsville, Pa., she moved to this area in 1986 from Milford, N.J. She was a retired municipal clerk for Milford Borough in Milford, N.J., member and past deacon of St. Marks Presbyterian Church, member of the church's handbell choir and seniors cChoir, and Order of the Eastern Star, Venus Chapter 153 District 7 in Lambertville, N.J., and Orion Chapter 13 in Frenchtown, N.J. She is survived by a son, Robert Winn Jr. of Lambertville; two daughters, Brenda S. Perkins of Atlanta and Gwendolyn M. Butler of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Virginia Condit of Warrington, Va.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. National Cremation Society, Holiday.
