He was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, lived near Little Sioux, where he engaged in farming and taught in the district school in winter. He studied law and began to practice in 1876. In 1881 he took his family to Washington Territory, but they returned to Idaho in 1885, where he resided on his ranch in Hagerman Valley.

John Henry Condit (of Silas W.) married, Feb 24, 1870, Frances E. Parks (of David J.). He was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, and was near Little Sioux, where he engaged in farming and taught in the district school in winter. He studied law and began to practice in 1876. In 1881 he took his family to Washington Territory, but they returned to Idaho in 1885, where he now resides on his ranch in Hagerman Valley. Left Iowa in April 1881 and traveled Oregon Trail to Idaho where he stopped briefly and then traveled on to Stanwood, Washington. Taught school in Stanwood (now Arlington) for about three years, leaving in approximately April 1885. Traveled back to Idaho where he settled in Malta, Idaho where he bought 160 acres of land. Lived there nine years then sold out and moved to Hagerman (*1895).
Was an itinerant missionary preacher for the RLDS church, traveling to many places from Nauvoo, Illinois to the west coast. They had very few worldly possessions.

Born: Madison, Wisconsin according to Dad's recollection of what she said. Church records state she was born in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin; 15 July 1851.
