Notes for Delia Ida Bell Parks

Notes for John Winford “Win” (Spouse 1)
Obit: Gooding County Leader (Gooding, Idaho) 18 Oct 1979, page 2A.

Don't know if you ever heard the story of how our Grandpa Win built his ranch house out east of Hagerman - the ranch where our dads and aunts grew up.  I didn't know the story until my dad (Leonard) told me just a few months ago.  Edith said she had never heard it either.  Apparently Grandpa bought the old school house, not sure when but must have been in the 20's. It was located by the old Rock Lodge near Bellinger Creek north of Hagerman.  Dad said they moved it up the Justice Grade using two wagons and teams of horses and to the site where they settled on the ranch.  It was this school house that became their house on the ranch.  I don't know any more details than this.
Also, if you have never been to the place Grandpa was born here in Washington, it is quite an interesting town (Arlington).  Nilda and I drove up there a couple of years ago - it's only about an hour and a half drive from here.  We found a museum there with a lot of old records of the pioneers of our Great grandpa's time.  We were there on a Sunday in the off season so there weren't many people there.  The folks working at the museum showed us the things there and described the spot where Kent's Prarie is nearby. Kent's Prarie, as you know, is where Grandpa said he was born.  There is now an elementary school there named Kent's Prarie Elementary.  It is a well-developed area with a modern shopping center nearby.  Arlington itself is an old, historical town.36
In 1905 Dad (John Winford Condit) and Aunt Melba (assume Melba Neddo) went with Grandmother (Francis Parks Condit) back to South Dakota by train for the funeral of Martin Luther Parks. That is when Dad (John Winford Condit) first met Delia Ida Belle Parks for the first time. She was 14 years old at the time. They were married 7 years later in Hagerman.37
Announcement of John W. Condit and Arthur J. Dennis thinking about opening a business in Hagerman while preparing to marry.18
